What is Ortho-Bionomy?

Ortho-Bionomy is a gentle, pain-free approach to muscular-skeletal pain and discomfort. This is a wholistic approach to healing that works with the nervous system to activate the body’s innate self-correcting reflexes inherent in everyone.

Ortho-Bionomy helps people break the cycle of pain – without creating pain. Sometimes the body’s natural ability to remain balanced is short-circuited by stress, injury, accident, improper posture, emotional experiences or overtaxing the body’s limits.

Ortho-Bionomy uses gentle positioning and movements which can release tension patterns which are creating pain, limiting range of motion, or limiting our ability to fully use our bodies, to relax, reset, and reorganize.

Ortho-Bionomy is a principle-based approach which means that we work with the conditions present in each individual body in any given moment.

Ortho-Bionomy works on the theory that ‘the body has within it everything it needs to heal itself.’ By working with the body, exaggerating what the body is doing, the body will unwind, release, open, and change in response to being affirmed and supported. Because the principles of Ortho-Bionomy are to work with positions of ease rather than force, most people find an Ortho-Bionomy session to be comfortable and relaxing. Each session is different as self-correction is as individual as each person.
